Do you think that the main character is actually a mediocre, bland person, or a unique man who is just wrapped up in convincing himself that he is boring?
I agree with your first comment and I half agree with your second comment. I think that his point of view convinces certain people that he is bland, but people like the ear girl that are quite intelligent and intuitive realize that he is actually a unique man.
I agree with you. When I was mentioning other people I meant the readers. Also in the story I is as you said that some people find that he is actually not who he thinks he is.
The ear girl definitely shows a more unique side of the main character, but I don't think he's trying to cover up his more interesting side. I think that he is truly a bland person. Don't even the most boring people have an interesting side to them, even if it rarely shows up?
I think you're contradicting yourself there. The ear girl shows a more unique side of the narrator, yet he's bland, yet he has this rarely shown interesting side to him? I think he's just a human being, no more, no less.
I think he is unique yet thinks of himself as bland. His point of view then convinces people that he must actually be bland.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Hannah. We've analyzed the main character thoroughly and pretty much came up with a mediocre, regular person.
